Management of Adult Blunt Renal Injury: A 10-Year Retrospective Review at a Single Institution

Purpose: Renal injury occurs in up to 5% of trauma cases and the kidney is third most wounded abdominal organ. The study objective was analyze clinical characteristics patients with blunt renal review treatment high-grade injuries.Methods: medical charts who visited Haeundae Paik Hospital between March 2010 February 2020 were retrospectively analyzed. Data on demographics, patterns, presentation, management, outcomes analyzed.Results: A total 68 included this study. common Grade III (<i>n</i> = 27, 39.7%). Falling predominant mechanism 33, 48.5%), 23.5% 16) sustained isolated trauma. Organ damage related chest (57.4%, <i>n</i> 39) or pelvic content (48.5%, 33). overall mortality rate 2.9% 2). There 45 (AAST Kidney scale Ш-V). no statistical difference 44, 97.8%) low-grade 23, 100%) received nonoperative (<i>p</i> 0.511). Variables did not differ significantly, except for severity score which statistically significantly different 0.001).Conclusion: Most traumatic injury, even those can be managed by treatment, have a good prognosis.
